Simple Preposition
At,
by, for, from, in, on, of, over, out, up, with etc.
Compound preposition
Before
Adding short form of ’A’ and ’Be’ (short form of ’On’ and ‘By’) with
Noun,adjective or with Adverb to form a new word, is called compound
Preposition.
Example:
Across=(on+ cross), Beneath= (By+neath), among, amidst, before, below, between,
inside, outside.
Prepositional Phrase or Phrase
Prepositions:

Some words together works like a preposition ,it‘s called Phrase of
Prepositions.
Exam:
